On behalf of the over one thousand employees of United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island (UCP of Long Island), I welcome you to our website.
We are proud of our more than 68 year history in creating opportunities and helping to fulfill the dreams of thousands of individuals and families. Our mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
Our name is our legacy but, as this website shows, we are much more than just our name. Fewer than 35% of the individuals we serve have cerebral palsy. Whether a disability occurs at birth, is acquired during development, the result of an accident, or the consequence of illness or aging, our programs and services meet the needs of children and adults of all ages with a wide and varied range of disabilities.
Each year the individuals we serve continue to thrive thanks to our quality programs and services.
Our Children’s Center offers a wide array of educational services for children and young adults. In addition, our early intervention, preschool and school age programs are designed to involve and educate children with special needs. We invite you to schedule a tour to witness for yourself the amazing work being done there!
Our Residential Program comprises 31 homes, including two children’s residences, which offer the residents a family environment while providing for their individual care needs. It is the common mission of each home to integrate essential independent living chores and skills into the daily lives of each individual.
Our Adult Day Program offers a wide array of services which provides opportunities for classroom learning, creative expression, community involvement and volunteer opportunities. Each program is personalized to include learning life skills, the pursuit of individual interests all while supporting goals and dreams.
The Employment Connection is the leader in matching Long Island businesses with qualified individuals who have a developmental disability. Through this program, we place reliable and competent workers in unfilled, high turnover positions allowing our businesses to meet their diversity needs.
We remain committed to our goal of creating Life Without Limits for people with disabilities. As you browse our site, I trust you will find the information contained helpful and the images displayed encouraging. It is our years and depth of quality experience and growth that make us a valuable resource; we are here for you.
